Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is one of the approved services under Asthma Remediation, part of Medi-Cal’s Community Supports program. As Medi-Cal managed care plan (MCP) staff or Asthma Remediation program managers, it’s essential to understand the benefits of IPM services and how IPM services can be incorporated into Asthma Remediation.
In a one-hour virtual training, RAMP and UC IPM will provide an overview of IPM principles, including why it is the preferred method for managing pests for those with asthma. We will also outline how to integrate IPM into AR services, bridging the gap between identifying pest problems through the home environmental asthma trigger assessment and selecting the IPM supplies and services to provide. Additionally, the training will identify strategies for delivering services to homeowners and renters, provide guidance on navigating landlord-tenant interactions, and outline criteria for selecting IPM providers.
Who is the training for? This training is designed to: 1) help MCP staff make decisions about what services to approve and 2) help AR program managers establish internal procedures and workflows. It will focus on what IPM services are allowed within the AR program, and how you can make decisions that protect the health of members and align with the AR policy guidance. Please note that in early summer, we’ll have a separate training for staff who conduct asthma home visits.
When is the training? We are offering two identical training sessions on different days/times. You can select the one that works best with your schedule.
