With RAMP’s leadership and support, the California Healthy Housing Coalition (CHHC) leveraged over a decade of collaboration between public health and tenants’ rights members and brought a small group of partners together to develop a set of principles that balance health protections with housing stability to aid future efforts to create equitable approaches to addressing smoke-free multifamily housing. The participants’ hope is that these consensus-based principles can serve as a guide for communities interested in crafting an equitable solution that is fair to all parties and does not have disparate impacts on low-income and other marginalized communities.
On July 16th, 2024, the CHHC hosted a webinar about the Principles. Four members of the team that developed the document outlined the Principles, provided an overview of the process involved in developing the Principles, and answered questions. To view the recording, click here.
