The Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society (CITRIS) and the Banatao Institute collaborated with the California Institute for Energy and Environment in the Spring of 2019 to host a large workshop on the health impacts of wildfires. This workshop pulled together UC Berkeley faculty and students with practitioners from local governments, state agencies, and community organizations. Based on the results of that workshop, they’ve now completed a white paper titled “Health, Wildfires, and Climate Change.” The white paper examines solutions to better protect health from future wildfires, which will be exacerbated by climate change.
