The American Lung Association (ALA) released the Clean Heat, Clean Air: Health Benefits of Modern Industrial Technologies report, examining the impact of emissions from industrial facilities that manufacture everyday products like food, paper, and clothing as well as calculating the public health benefits of transitioning to clean heat technologies. The report’s analysis revealed $1.1 trillion in public health benefits by transitioning equipment to cleaner technologies by 2050, potentially avoiding and preventing:
- 77,200 premature deaths;
- 33.2 million asthma attacks;
- 204,000 new asthma cases; and
- 3.4 million lost workdays.
