New Wildfire Smoke Resources

Almost overnight, most of California’s air is now thick with wildfire smoke. The wildfire season is here.

Last month we shared several wildfire resources to assist asthma stakeholders as they support families and individuals with asthma. We now want to share a few more.

First, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has updated its AirNow maps to include data from thousands of low cost monitors across the country. The sensor data comes from Purple Air; the information is adjusted to mitigate sensor data bias.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has also updated its wildfire smoke resources to include information on smoke and COVID-19 for the general public. The CDC has also updated its resources for public health professionals

Between the COVID-19 pandemic, the intense struggle for racial justice and now the burden of wildfires, this is an incredibly trying time. We here at RAMP hope you are staying as well as can possibly be.

Warm regards,
RAMP staff
