The EPA recently shared its new Emergencies and Indoor Air Quality website where individuals can learn to protect themselves as well as their IAQ before, during, and after emergencies. This website shares information about wildfires, floods, power outages, extreme heat, winter weather, and more.
People spend most of their time indoors and rely on indoor spaces for shelter. Weather-related and human-made emergencies can create a range of hazards in indoor environments.
On a related note, air cleaners, sometimes called air purifiers, can also help clear out wildfire smoke particles and other asthma triggers in the home. RAMP has created many resources including factsheets, videos, and more on Air Cleaners for Asthma Programs.
